Six Nations Food Security Ground Zero Greenhouse – Terrylynn Brant

Ground Zero Greenhouse has a mission “to Walk Lightly on Mother Earth”. Centrally located at the Mohawk Seedkeeper Gardens on Six Nations, the project partners with the Six Nations Food Security Circle and the Mohawk Seedkeeper Garden to provide community resources and a demonstration based learning model for the low energy production of foods.

Built with the help of volunteers and almost entirely from recycled materials to divert landfill with items that can be repurposed, it uses no electricity and includes five natural heat and water sources: the sun, compositing beds, a chicken coup, rain water and black rain barrels, and a wood stove. Ground Zero Greenhouse specializes in Haudenosaunee seed varieties and other heritage seeds.
